As they say on the Birdsville Races website, “It’s an event unlike any other.” Of course, along with the races, the Birdsville Race Club ensures there are plenty of things to do during race week.  If you fly to the Birdsville Races with Adagold, you can spend more time enjoying these activities, and less time on the road.

Things to See

Birdsville Hotel

Steeped in history and filled with incredible local stories, the Birdsville Hotel is a must-see. This heritage-listed hotel was built in 1884 and has endured fires, floods and cyclones to become a symbol of outback tenacity and spirit. Memorabilia and photos adorn the walls of the Birdsville Hotel, but the stand out is definitely the Hat Wall. The Hat Wall is lined with hats representing those who have lived and worked in Birdsville. The larrikin Aussie humour is also represented by a white line painted on the floor. This line reminds visitors which side is for staff only. What happens if you cross the line? You shout the bar!

The Big Red Sand Dune

Located approximately 35kms outside of Birdsville, and standing an incredible 40 meters tall Big Red marks the symbolic edge of the Simpson Desert. Visit during sunset for incredible panoramic views!
